The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has announced a voluntary recall of various vegetable trays and platters due to potential contamination with salmonella issued by Kroger Co.
The products, distributed in Arizona, Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming, were prepared in-store and may contain cut cucumbers previously recalled for Salmonella contamination concerns.
The affected products include:
- Deli Fresh Vegetable Tray Medium (4 lb.) – Packaged in a plastic container with a lid, UPC 11110-99274. All lot codes are included in the recall, with 1,156 units affected.
- Small Veggie Platter (32 oz.) – Packaged in a plastic container with a lid, UPC 41573-26809. All lot codes are included, affecting 231 units.
- Boar’s Head Hummus Veggie Platter Small (2.5 lb.) – Packaged in a plastic container with a lid, UPC 42421-61545. All lot codes are included, with 11 units recalled.
- Boar’s Head Hummus Veggie Platter Medium (5 lb.) – Packaged in a plastic container with a lid, UPC 42421-61547. All lot codes are included, affecting 121 units.
The recall was initiated on November 29, 2024, and classified as a Class I recall by the FDA on January 10, 2025.
A Class I recall indicates a serious health risk, as salmonella infection can cause severe symptoms, including fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.

For vulnerable groups, such as young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems, the infection can lead to severe complications.
According to the report, Kroger did not issue a public press release but notified consignees via email. The company urges customers who purchased the recalled products to discontinue use immediately and return the items to the store for a full refund.
