The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced a recall of approximately 105,164 pounds of ready-to-eat (RTE) frozen drunken chicken due to misbranding and undeclared allergens.
The product, distributed by Louisville-based Custom Food Solutions, contains egg and sesame, which were not listed on the product label.
The affected product, labeled “YATS Drunken Chicken Cooked Chicken Thigh Meat in a Spicy Tomato Sauce with Beer,” was packaged in 60-pound cases containing 5-pound pouches. Lot codes include 4074, 4102, 4130, and several others, with production dates ranging from March 14, 2024, to January 15, 2025.
The recalled items bear establishment number “EST. P-17891” inside the USDA mark of inspection and were shipped to 11 Yats restaurants in Indiana.
The labeling error was discovered during routine FSIS review activities.
While there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions, the FSIS advises consumers and restaurants to check their freezers and avoid serving the affected product.
Egg and sesame are common allergens that can trigger serious reactions in sensitive individuals.
The recall has been classified as a Class I recall, indicating a high risk of severe health consequences.
Consumers are urged to return the product to its place of purchase or discard it.
