January 27, 2025 — The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a public health alert for frozen, fully cooked Wegmans breaded chicken breast nuggets after reports of bone fragments being found in the product.

While no injuries have been confirmed, consumers are being advised to avoid eating the affected product.

The product in question is the “Wegmans FAMILY PACK FULLY COOKED Breaded Chicken Breast with Rib Meat,” sold in 46-ounce plastic packages with a best-if-used-by date of August 26, 2025.

Wegmans Food Markets, which distributed the product to retail locations in Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., received multiple consumer complaints of bone fragments in the nuggets.

No injuries have been reported, but FSIS is concerned that some consumers may still have the product in their freezers.

While a recall is not being issued, as the product is no longer available for purchase, anyone who has purchased the affected product is urged to discard it or return it to the point of purchase for a refund.Recalled Wegmans chicken - back of package
